Ethereum (ETH), the world’s largest altcoin by market cap, has breached $3,000 for the first time ever, breaking through previous All Time Highs (ATHs). Ethereum (ETH) is showing no signs of slowing down.
Ethereum is now up over 1,300% over the past year, largely due to the exponential growth of Decentralised Finance (DeFi) and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). Ethereum is currently trading at $3,169.
This recent surge has made Ethereum co-founder, Vitalik Buterin, the youngest crypto billionaire, at 27 years old. According to an address previously disclosed by Vitalik in 2018, the Ethereum co-founder now holds 333,520 ETH, currently worth just over $1 billion, in his main wallet.
In April 2021, Vitalik donated 100 ETH to a COVID-19 relief fund for India. It appears that one of his other accounts was used for this transaction. This ‘second account’ contains ETH worth another $2,8 million.
Interestingly enough, Vitalik’s disclosed wallet is only the 22nd most valuable ETH wallet according to Etherscan. Vitalik’s wallet is somewhat less valuable than wallets operated by major crypto exchanges. The top wallet holds over 7 million ETH, currently worth around $22 billion.
